A prayer after thirty minutes on the treadmill
On nights when
Oreos cookies and Snickers candy bars
(and whatever other sweet snacks
may be on sale)
mightily call us,
we thank you God
for your gentle, forceful Holy Spirit
who nudges us to the gym
and meets us on the treadmill.
We thank you for
family and friends
who affirm and support
our response to the Holy Spirit’s work.
May we listen ever more intently
to your Holy Spirit
who calls us to care for one another,
to care for creation,
and to care four ourselves.
May we listen
and may we respond more faithfully,
we pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
