A whimsical prayer after a long walk
Gracious God, I thank you.
I thank you that I was able to take
a long walk today, pushing Lucy in her stroller.
I thank you that we could walk in safety.
I thank you for all the many times Lucy
turned around to look at me
and say “Hiiiii” in a loud voice.
I pray that every grandchild and grandparent
might have the opportunity to take such walks
or engage in other activities freely and safely.
May that day soon come.
Oh, and God, I could use a hand
with some aching muscles.
You know which ones they are.
Amen.

AdventWord 2022 – December 16 – #traveler

I traveled to my son and daughter-in-love’s home to see my granddaughter.
There I, the traveler, enjoyed coffee in a cup celebrating another traveler.
In person.
In our mind.
In our heart.
In our soul.
In solidarity with a fictional character (or is he?).
Travel comes in many forms.
And in every form, those who make the journey are travelers.
And in some cases, coffee makes it better.
