We Meet Again Tour – 4 June 2018

IMG-7512A meeting with the pastor and a representative of the Mission Outreach Committee of Riverdale Presbyterian Church took the tour to the Greek Express restaurant for great conversation and a good lunch.

An octopus was discovered lurking in the restroom.

We Meet Again Tour – 27 May 2018

IMG-7453The Sunday, May 27 tour began with worship at First Presbyterian Church in Whitestone. In the evening, with recommendations from son Sean and friend Patrick in hand, Tricia and I went to the Circle in the Square Theater to see Once on This Island.

A marvelous show! Well staged. Well played. A wonderful evening.

We’re on our way to buying the soundtrack.

Check it out!!

We Meet Again Tour – 26 May 2018

IMG-7450Tricia came to town to join the tour over the Memorial Day weekend, arriving on Thursday, May 24. Friday was a work day that did bring a walk in Riverside Park. See the past several posts for photos of purple flowers.

Saturday morning, we volunteered with First Presbyterian Church of Whitestone at The Father’s Heart soup kitchen and food pantry. We met Sean for lunch. And, after a nap, we took the D Train to Yankee Stadium. We met Don Jang and Krystin Granberg for an amazing meal at the Audi Club buffet and great seats. Mike Trout had a five hit game and the Angels won.

We Meet Again Tour – 24 April 2018

IMG_7265The return tour to New York has continued although posts have not been made. Efforts will be made to address that.

Last night, the tour made its way to Yankees Stadium. The first time I saw the Yankees play was against the Pittsburgh Pirates on 13 October 1960. The Pirates, my Pirates, won. I have remained a Pirates fan every since through triumphs, and a whole bunch of losing and frustration.

But my friend Don had tickets from his work and so, with Don and our friends John and Jim, I went to the game.

The Yankees put on a show of power. CC Sabathia pitched well. And a fun time was had!

We Meet Again Tour – 31 January 2018, #2

Work took the tour to Staten Island. The visits there allowed for a Staten Island Ferry ride at night. City lights!

I did some visits on Staten Island and spotted the moon over Brooklyn while riding the ferry back to Manhattan.

We Meet Again Tour – 7 January 2018

Sports continued to feature prominently in the early part of the We Meet Again Tour. This time it involved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL playoffs. For a number of reasons, I have mixed feelings about watching football, particularly pro football. But I did again this year. We will see what next year brings.

The Shire does not have cable tv so I went to Sean’s apartment to watch. He went to see Bette Midler in her final performance in Hello Dolly.

Henrik watched with me. That was the highlight of the day.

We Meet Again Tour – 5 January 2018

Sports appears to be a theme of the early days of the tour. It returned to the Barclays Center for a hockey game. My first NHL game. My first game seeing the Penguins play. DeLaina Gumbs accompanied me. And the Pens won, 4-0. A good night.

We Meet Again Tour – 29 December 2017, #2

On a cold December night, Tricia and I wandered out of the warmth of the Shire to see Mark Rylance in Farinelli and the King.

We chose the play because Rylance was the star (the King). It was great.

We Meet Again Tour – 29 December 2017, #1

After the traveling between New York, Louisville, Ann Arbor, Solon, Ann Arbor, and Detroit, Tricia and I returned to New York.

It was cold. Cold. We hung out at the Shire and watched tv and movies and ordered food in.

Except for 29 December. We bundled up and braved the cold to see a play. And we allowed some time to check out some of the city lights. Saks Fifth Avenue put on a pretty fair show.
