Tricia, Eric, and I saw an eagle
soaring high above us:
beauty, dignity, power in flight –
a joy to watch
but hard to photograph.
Not so these purple flowers
along the path.

He has landed in Albuquerque
for another summer at Ghost Ranch.
Joy.
It appears most likely
I will not spend
any time in
New Mexico
this year.
Wistfulness.
