Walking differently

I walk through the world differently
than other people do.

Privilege unearned, unasked, undeserved
but given to me for factors beyond my control
shapes my steps along the trail of life.

Based on
race
sexual orientation
gender
economic status,
health.

I pray for the wisdom to realize my privilege,
the grace to recognize when my privilege comes into play,
and the courage to use my privilege
to walk through the world differently
than other privileged people do.
